The Renaissance is known as the "Rebirthing Period" because of all of the new things people were discovering and the new ways of life they were adapting. It was almost as if they were a new civilization entirely. The Renaissance was a time that people were leaving behind some of the traditions and beliefs of magic and religion and became interested in the reality around them. People changed the way they thought, figured things out and even created art to be considered more “realistic.” Regarding reality, humans during the Renaissance were very interested in what reality was. For instance, how does one know that the world around them is real? Profound questions like these were very common to be asked during this time. This brought up the concept of humanism and the thought that humans are rational beings. Some people were questioning the actions and role of the church in their lives to the point where they had to change religion, but others were more certain than ever that there was a higher power for them. All in all, however, the Renaissance was about turning from religion and towards man. Although religion was still an important aspect in every day lives, art, music and sciences were becoming more and more popular. (Humanism and the Renaissance)
Many people during this time were taking the notions they have and putting thought into those, which lead to reasoning. The Renaissance was truly a jumping off point for everything in history. It lead to new discoveries in every category in society. The Renaissance started in Italy and continued to spread throughout Europe. It impacted everyone in regards to politics, science, religion, math, anatomy and astronomy. All of the philosophers at this time were typically frowned upon by the Church because of their notions, experiments and findings. Most of which was probably Da Vinci because of his way to study anatomy. He figured the best way to discover things was to dissect people and see what the body was truly like inside. Most of the philosopher's studies horrified the church because they were so unclean and disproving the idea of God. Without the Renaissance, it is quite possible that the human race as we know it would not exist. We needed the new notions, experiments and findings in order to survive and prosper. (Leonardo Renaissance Man)
Because Italy was on the border of Central Europe, that is where it is believed the Renaissance started. As cities in Italy became main places for trade, more of their culture was adapted. Because they were so far ahead in the Renaissance ways, this spread to the rest of Europe. The Renaissance and trade led to Italy being one of the wealthiest countries at this time. Due to all of the power Italy had during the Renaissance, they quickly became the highest political power and the envy of everyone. Most philosophers, artists and mathemiticians came from Italy. Italy is known for many things, but the most important is probably the start of the Renaissance. (Social and Economic Changes During the Renaissance)
